Desert Trip, part II

Well, as much as I love living on the Coast, I do very much look forward to spending a little time in the desert every spring.

In past years I've wandered all about the Mojave. While I have a few favorite places I like to try to visit on these trips, I usually just kind of head out whichever direction circumstances take me, frequently resulting in some interesting, if not amazing experiences.

This particular trip took me to a place near Rainbow Basin the first night. I got rained on that night; some sprinkles on my face woke me from a deep sleep two or three times. Some time around three or four it started raining harder, and I had to crawl into a tent to keep from getting soaked through. I didn't know what the next day's weather would be like, and I wasn't interested in starting my trip out soaked.

The next couple days found me wandering around Death Valley and the surrounding areas. I visited many places in and out of the park, including Bad Water, Natural Bridge, Devil's Cornfield, Salt Creek, and many more. None of these places required much more than a few minute's walk, though, but that's ok. I did crawl around on the rocks looking at cool geology, etc.

The weather wasn't bad. At the hottest it probably never really got over about 105 or so, and the nights were in the 80s. (Farenheit) There was no more rain, so the rest of the nights found me falling asleep counting metorites overhead.

Anyway, every time I head out to the desert I find another dozen or so places I plan to visit on future trips....but of course, suggestions are always welcome!!!
