Friday Night... Yay, Home!
Friday Night... Yay, Home! OK... I'm finally thinking maybe I *do* need a GPS. A 50 minute drive turned into a scenic exploration of the Turnbull National Forest, a surprise visit to Cheney WA, and... did you know there's a tiny town in the middle of nowhere WA named Ewan? They even have a stop sign. I think there are a whole 5 houses (and a half fallen down one at the edge of town). I felt like I was trapped in scenes from the Labyrinth. You know, where she marks her spot, walks away, turns and goes back exactly the same way and... nothing is the same any more. On the other hand: 3 lefts make a right. And so do 3 losts. Somehow, my third time of "I turned around and went back EXACTLY the way I just came from!! Where the hell am I NOW?!?!" ended up being exactly where I was supposed to be in the first place. But then I said screw it and came home. Essential problem: I panicked, hopped off an exit too soon (I suspect) but ended up on the correctly named road. Just the wrong section of it and everything fell apart. Had the road been named something different I'd have realized the error immediately. And there was no cell reception out there either. So my friday: I thought I was attending a Sacred Native American Medicine Rattle making class. The Universe wanted me to take a long, scenic drive through a National Forest. Hope the Universe is kind enough to pack me a picnic next time and let me know to bring my camera. Anybody else doing anything fun and exciting on a Friday night? I found the pic online. Didn't have a good camera with me. **UPDATE!** One of the organizers spoke with the instructor who said come tonight. She will work with me one on one to get me through last night's information while working with everybody else on the finishing half. And turns out google maps left out one critical piece of information (obviously!) - I took the right exit, just google forgot to say "Turn left, drive to the end of the road, turn right". Also, I was just told to watch for Babb Road. Which I actually drove past twice last night lol. |

Well, I think that you have been under a lot of stress this week... Given that you had to work overtime shifts and what not... So, maybe, this was a blessing in disguise where you weren't meant to be where you were going... Perhaps, the need to tell your story was greater than the need to the Sacred Native American Medicine Rattle making class. I've had days where I've done everything I could to arrive at a place early, but, it didn't happen because of some sort of wreck on a highway; a presidential shut-down of a highway; a tornado blocking the roads; snow in February clogging all of the roads. Yes, you feel like you are in a twilight episode or some part of the Labyrinth movie... Now, that wouldn't be so bad for me... Because I think Jennifer Connelly is hot... she's not in my sliding top 30, but, hot nevertheless... So, maybe, you need to look at the joy you brought people today because of your blog... You could have met some hot guy or girl and then stayed out late and missed the blogging opportunity which might have messed up someone's evening of reading blogs... yes, it could have happened... maybe, not very realistic, but, it could have happened. When I was in high school and college I used to drive for hours in the boonies of the north central texas area... sometimes I would drive in my car or in my motorcycle just to see the sights, no agenda, no timetable... just driving around... sometimes I would drive in the DFW area and take streets I've never taken just to see where they would lead... Now, with crazy traffic in the metroplex, I can take side roads like crazy and beat the 'rush' hour blues... Those activities only worked if you had the time... well, those days were a long time ago... have a great weekend... get a map (paper) of the unknown Washington state area... might help you out next time... or, print off the directions before you leave... or, leave yourself open for another adventure... just sayin'.... Sounds like you have a sense of direction about like I do!! I have GPS on my phone and I know I would be absolutely screwed if I didn't have it to show me how to get to places. If I don't know exactly where I am going, I use it, even if it seems silly because it has saved me lots of frustration since I got it and accepted the fact that I just need to use it (that wasn't easy!!). I have also learned to accept that there is just a good chance of me getting lost along the way to someplace that I have never been before, so I just had to learn to enjoy the journey. It's amazing what you can see when you don't mean to!! LOL Dennis (Idahonuke) To read about myongoing adventures and journey into the lifestyle: [blog Idahonuke]

In a real labyrinth, if you trail your right hand along a wall, sooner or later you'll come to the exit... unless there is either a bridge or a tunnel into the labyrinth, in which case you're screwed. Pretty picture, though... Getting lost ain't all bad. You see and learn a lot of new stuff that way. I've liked wandering around with no clear destination all my life, exploring. My poor wife has no sense of direction, is lousy with maps, and can't figure out the GPS. But she trusts ME, so we travel well together. But one evening after work I wanted to go buy a new pair of work boots, and she drove. We were headed for a small town with a big working duds store. She got busy telling me a story and as usual went all space cadet and started making wrong turns. This was her town, not mine, but I had been to this store once before and I tried to correct her, but she pointed out that she was the only Hoosier in the car, so shut the fuck up. Eventually she turned south, the correct point of the compass, but by then we were way too far east. She would NOT turn around and go back. We ended up circling a bunch of small lakes in the dark, ending up in cul-de-sacs and backtracking until even MY sense of direction was gone. Just as I was about to say we should give it up, we'd never get there before the store closed, she made a left and emerged on the main highway directly across the street from our store. She knows very well the gods were looking out for her that night and she simply lucked out, but she never will admit it. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.

As much as I hate Google their maps have been pretty good for where I needed to go. If I hadn't checked with them first on my recent trip to your area I wouldn't have known that streets going in the same direction changed names several times along the same route. Spokane is just plain weird ..... AB No Bozos

I forgot to add ... you should get a GPS that has Sheldon Cooper doing the directions. In addition to the directions you'd get dazzled by all the trivia along the way. LOL AB No Bozos

Ok... so, after everything... I hope this leads to a great blog... by going tonight, you may get to experience what you missed on Friday, however, the stars have aligned themselves differently (if you believe in that kind of stuff) and a totally different outcome may or may not be in store for you... Let's hope that we are both rewarded with what we need... and, that's all I have to say about that... tyvm... To leave private messages, please use my confidential mailbox at my blog: Good luck!!!
