Challenge yourself Like many I spend way to much time on the internet basically just mooching around in google looking things up reading email etc. Anyway and this is not related at all, I'm reading Bag of Bones by Steven King. I'm not normally a Steven King fan since once you've read a few scary books they tend to get a bit all the same. However Bag of Bones caught my eye in Chapters before Christmas, its about a writer who goes through Tragedy and then gets writers block which seems to be caused by some ghosts that are haunting him. Now I've always wanted to write, along with making art, playing a musical instrument and a few other things. Well I can make things that resemble Art but I've always been way too terrified to try writing and I swear I'm tone deaf. But as I said I mooch on the net way too much I had one of those random "why don't I" thoughts so instead of wasting 2 hours on the net I used my laptop to write something. I even finished it, its a short story, definitely not very good, but it passed a few hours of doing something that actually created something. So who cares if its badly written and will never see the light of day. It was a fun couple of hours. So next time you think you cant do something just give it a try, it can be fun.... |
