Friday Evening...

Today seemed like it went on forever...I am so tired all I want to do is grab a bite to eat, settle in to my easy chair and chill.

The hacking coughs, stuffy heads and such were VERY disgusting...so much so, I e-mailed our HR and asked if the firm was going to provide sterile masks and gloves for the support staff to wear while being exposed to all these germs. While done in jest, the response I got back was not a smiling or chuckling one but rather, no, the firm would not pay for such items and that if I felt like I needed them, I had to provide them for myself. WTF??????

Not to worry, I have a large new can of Lysol spray, a gallon size baggy full of Clorox wipes. I wash my hands thoroughly and have taken to using a paper towel when going in and out doors in any area of the office. I was pretty disgusted with the HR response, makes one wonder where her head is really at...the next thing I knew, she was on the phone talking to my cube-mate about something on Facebook...again, WTF? I thought this was supposed to be a "professional" office!!!!

Then the head paralegal who was coughing so hard and had to go to the bathroom to throw-up a couple of times, started biting my head off about deadlines and such...which I honestly didn't know what she was asking or meant...you know, I got tired of being made fun of by my other co-workers about the germophobic thing, I didn't appreciate the lack of humor by the HR and then her turning around to discuss Facebook...I mean come on, am I the only one working in this office??????

I'm really not looking forward to next week...especially Monday as the so-called group Christmas party is supposed to happen. I'll take something but I've already decided I'm not participating...I don't want to be around all those people and their coughing, sneezing germs...I'm not in the mood to watch a bunch of drunks sing Karaoke...I'm simply NOT in the mood...can you tell????

I'm going to get comfy, curl up in my chair and get over Friday!!!

I hate Christmas for just this reason. A time to drink to excess, eat to excess, be pleasant to excess, spend to excess--a season of excess. Just think, you have to be nice to people from Thanksgiving to January 2--more than humanity can tolerate. And colds, viruses, and so on make it no better. Thanks, Steven

While I am not a germaphobic, since starting on this latest round of chemo, I am going to have to be very careful around others. While all the Dr.'s and medical people are watching my blood counts, I'm watching everyone else. It's amazing some of the disgusting things you start to notice when you take time to look. People wiping their runny nose on the back of their hand, openly sneezing without even trying to cover up, etc. I can understand someone coughing or sneezing into their hand, old habits are hard to break. Although, I've always been one that if my hands were full I would turn my head and cough or sneeze into my shoulder. I just can't seem to get a grip on coughing into my arm.
