One Step Forward; Three Steps Backward

I've been getting a few emails from friends and watchers inquiring how my running regimen has been going. Up until today, I had been averaging about 45 miles a week splitting the distance between running and elliptical workouts.

Well, today my body decided to give me a reality check by letting me know that I am no longer the agile twenty-something I once was.

I was doing dead lifts using lighter weight this morning when I felt a pull accompanied by pain in my lower left back. The exact same same injury occurred to my back two years ago while in a precarious sexual position.

I've been doing all the right things- icing it, taking NSAID's and most recently I started a Tumeric (Curcumin) supplement.

For those that aren't familiar with it, Curcumin is thought to have antioxidant properties, which means it may decrease swelling and inflammation. It's also being explored as a cancer treatment in part because inflammation appears to play a role in cancer.

Here's hoping that I can be all well before my Chicago trip because sex is definitely on my agenda among other things!

Welcome to my Monday! How's your week shaping up?

XOXO,
myelin

I wish I had the same body now, that I had when I was in my mid-20's. But, age and occupation soon make mortals of us all. Exercise, but with moderation. We just don't bounce like we used to.

Good to hear you are still working out; but what good is peak physical shape if you are too sore to enjoy it?

My opinions are my own, and you can't have them. I give no warranty that my opinions won't change.

I often though I could use some inspiration to run again and having someone with an amazing ass like yours to stay about 10 feet in front of me would help.

I just got through a bad muscle pull in my back, I know its not fun at all. Drugs are the only thing that got me through the day.

Tumeric is good stuff...without many of the side effects of more conventional drugs. I just have to be careful and take it with food, otherwise it upsets my stomach. There is also Zyflamend which combines tumeric and a lot of other good things to reduce inflammation too.

hope you feel better soon so you can indulge in lots and lots of sex! xoxo

I'm hoping to get back to a weekly hydro-therapy session now that the skin graft on my back has healed over (again!).
Sex is on my agenda...and has been for the last 3 months!

I have MS. Instead of taking tumeric pills, mom actually mixes the tumeric with honey and rolls into little balls for me. The are the size of small pearls. I take 4 or 5 a day. Also good as a topical ointment for burns/scars.
Good luck with healing the muscle pull before your Chicago trip

It seems as though I know way too many people who have been deadlifting and jacked up their backs.
