Some new HTML-like commands live

You can now put HTML tags in your posts by using angle brackets ([ and ]) instead of less than and greater than. We'll be testing it live for a few days to see how the tags are working. Here's an example of some things you can do.

Playing with tables
Numerical list:
• one
• two
• three
This is underline

Some fonts:

Times Size 5
Verdana Bold
Comic Sans MS
WildWest Red

Light Blue
Background

Padded 10 Pixels
Border 3 Pixels

• luvpump
Greenluvpump

Generated using:

Playing with tables

Numerical list/b]
[li]one
[li]two
[li]three
This is underline[p]
Some fonts/b][ul]
Times Size 5[br]
Verdana Bold[br]
Comic Sans MS[br]
WildWest Red[/ul]

[bg bgcolor=lightblue cellpadding=10 width=80% border=3]
Light Blue[br]Background[p]
Padded 10 Pixels[br]
Border 3 Pixels
[/bg]

Green
[member luvpump]

For those wondering how to show the actual commands in a page, put a \ in front of the bracket as in \[ or \].

OK, really cool. Now I'll have to get out my HTML handbook and have some fun. Maybe I'll just generate it in a drag and drop program and copy the HTML and replace all the < with [ and see how that works.
Thanks mate.

Hi Andrew, this means we still use standard HTML commands, but instead use it between the brackets instead of the Greater and Lesser than am I correct? Nick

Question Mr. CEO Man.....
If you don't put each line in the color "quotes" then only your first line will be in color.

How do you add a line break, so it doesn't look like one big huge paragraph......

Also why doesn't it work that if you click on the {color purple} insert words here {/color} tags (used { instead of { to show examples of this.... But why can't you insert several paragrapha and have them all turn out into the color. Because as it is only the first paragraph shows up as the color and the rest are black......

wish there was a line break here

PLEASE ANSWER ME MR. CEO MAN !!!!!

does the button with the arrow on the right of the keyboard with the word 'enter' on it ring a bell? That's the one mostly used for putting in line breaks ....

Actually - looks more like an issue with how we
handle returns in posts. For now, adding [br]
can help til we figure out a way to selectively
convert returns with [br]

Has anyone else noticed all the html/paragraph/spacing problems in their older blog (already posted ones) ??

Hopefully you're aware of this and fixing them! Suddenly older lists that I made on older blogs are all just mushed together as a paragraph.

Thanks!

Andrew replies on 3/16/2006 5:29 pm:
Yes, we're working on it... hopefully will have
a workable solution by tomorrow.

Oh and the Miss Goddess of Dumb Ass caught me in a foul mood today.

Of course I know what the enter key is. I use it all the time Miss. Dumb Shit. duh......

It's just when you use it with the HTML codes the RETURN KEY doesn't work!!!! Miss Smarty Pants!!!!!

And when I typed the above post it was typed with the spaces using the return key only it didn't show up that way when it was posted.....

so duh.... don't get smart mouthed with me $%&$#

*blush*

sorry i'm in a really pissy mood right now!!!

Andrew replies on 3/16/2006 5:04 pm:
Yes, we are currently looking into how
returns are being added (when using html like
commands, the code was adding extra returns so
I made it tougher to add in returns which now
make some posts run together). Have to supersize
my brain (or get some help) to come up with a
solution. For now, people can add [br] when
they want a return or [p] when they want a
paragraph break.

Hopefully, the trial period of "testing it live" won't leave our already done blogs all screwed up and skewed, like they became today. Once we have entered, and posted them, we've gotten used to them STAYING the way we posted them. Changes in font size, font color, and spacing, got really messed up this afternoon, on all of our existing blogs.

Things are working weird since the upgrade. Normally I put in a color command at the beginning and it applies to all paragraphs. Now it must be entered at the beginning of each new paragraph.
It used to work just fine.
Sometimes with new code some features get fixed and others get broken. And some no longer work the old way by design.
We'll all have to be patient while the kinks get worked out.
Now stop fighting you two.
Peace,
SR

Getting closer to figuring this out - looks like
a conflict in the CSS file and the post. I've
forwarded to some people here (my guess is that it
was broken prior to this release, right?)

So, will the old posts return to normal on their own? ... magically .... and if so, ..when?

I ask as im not sure whether to perform much major surgery or not??

This happened to profiles a ways back .. lasted several weeks or more ... so knowing now what to expect is important to many of us.

Thanks for improvements, appreciated!!! .... just need to know if posts will restore on their own ,...and when?

Thank You

There is a problem with part of the older blog posts. It has to do with the carriage return / line feed / enter at the end of lines / (whatever you call it) to SEEM deleted.

It is not 'consistent' or everywhere because of other commands used in the posts.

It is being worked on by the peepz of ~this friendly site~.

The advice is to NOT go change any older blog posts .... they will be restored (or at least that's the idea)
