"baby baby dont give up on me "
......I left the gun in the car as much as I wanted to shoot red,
I'm practicing anger management. Typical of the area, big house with a yard that takes up the whole block, hedges, blah blah.
Watch your p's and q's it's wilmette. I rang the bell.

.......She answered the door. Punched me in the face, grabbed me by the shirt then yanked me in. She kept hitting and kicking me
and I turned, ran up a couple of stairs on the staircase with my hands out to keep her away.

......."Bastard! I loved you so fuckin much! You hurt me, you really hurt me! I saw you with that other girl, that fuckin skank!" Her eyes flashed with anger. "That was after YOU broke up
with ME, Red. And you never told me that you loved me. How was I supposed to know that? She was crying, on the bottom step and she looked up at me. "You were supposed to figure it out! You were supposed to know!"

........Well. I guess I fucked up. "Red, listen. Okay, I get it and I apologise. I never meant to hurt you, you have to believe!
If I'd known that you had fallen in love..." She sniffed. "I have a confession to make to you, lake. I've been reading your blog." So she knew everything thats been happening...

......."I"m sorry too, lake. I shouldn't have tried to have you killed. I don't know what came over me." She sniffed, and rubbed her nose. "That's ok, baby." I said. Ya gotta let stuff go sometimes. To be cool, u have to play it cool. "Say, got any beer? Lets go sit in the kitchen, Red. You know, I still think you're a knockout, right?" She is, too.

.....I got a small smile out of that, and she led the way over to the kitchen. "It's my folks place. She said over her shoulder.
I sat, she got a beer out of the fridge for me and opened it with an opener out of the drawer. "Here, lake." Our hands touched.

......There was a moment. I wasn't in love with her, tho and I had to be honest but there wasnt anywhere left to go with our relationship since shed been hurt. "Where are the diamonds, Red?
If big Sam gets them back then they won't be trying to kill me anymore. Please." She was the real burglar, she taught me in the first place.

......She looked me in the eye, and said "Ill get them out of the safe. Drink your beer." Apparently it had been life or death until I apologised. I guess some women just think that way. It felt like I was narrowly almost hit by a speeding bus.

........The beer was good. I wouldnt have more than 2, I usually don't. I wondered about coming back in Red's life. I wasn't ready for that. I wanted, hell I don't know. She came in with a crown royal bag, small and dark blue. Passed it to me.

......"Please come back, lake. At least visit once in a while."
I got up and we kissed. I had to go, I had to fix this thing.
"Goodbye, Red." She was silent, and I didn't look back
