Fuck Shame

(apologies if this post seems scrambled and disjointed. It came about during a windows reboot of my machine for a couple of hours. I promise to do better)

No shame is not a new pornstar or exotic dancer. Shame is good old feeling bad about something you like because someone else made you feel that way.

I see countless types of shaming here and everywhere in society and really I just want to say fuck it. From the vegan that looks down his or her nose as you eat tasty steak to the breeder who disapproves of you not having a clutch of . These people are everywhere. Hell we have different names to soften them. We call them snobs. As in wine and liquor snobs. Others call them "taste makers" or "critics".

Personally it is all a way to muddy the waters. Personally I like things. I am secure enough in myself to know that I like those things. Be it sexually, food wise, car wise or something to listen to. The key thing to being shamefree is understanding two things.

The first is that it takes someone else to make you feel ashamed. Someone in your life that you might have respect for at one time pooh poohed one of your likes. Made you feel absolutely shitty about liking that thing and then moved on while you struggled with that shameful feeling. No one ever feels ashamed of what they are doing all on their own. It takes someone else to make you feel shame.

The second thing is that we have to accept someone else's hierarchy of good and bad. Be confident in knowing what you like. Don't do something because someone else tells you to. Being self aware enough to know you identity is king. I don't do sexy bedroom talk because I feel cheese ball doing it. That doesn't mean that I have stopped partners who enjoy it and make them feel bad for doing so.

The only people who should feel shame are those making you feel ashamed.

It's called politically correct. What I've notices though is that what is political usually has very little to do with being correct.

I know I have felt shame after I did something Stupid to someone. It sucks and I always try to Not do it. But it just slips out from time to time.

now is that shame or is that guilt. I think those two emotions can be very close to each other at times.
