Recapturing Youth

A few posts back I was lamenting about my younger years. (See Memories of a Past Nearly Forgotten if you need to remember what I'm talking about) Anyway, I was minding my own business when suddenly an idea hit me.

Hard.

It really hurt. Some bruising. A possible scar.

I had this weird urge to start brainstorming about a videogame I'd like to create. Got out the old graph pad and a notebook. Started designing maps. And a list of characters. Stat sheets. Equipment.

Even got my 7 year old involved. He is helping me name the characters as I decide where in the game's world they can be found. And what type of character they are. Having a blast with a little father- time.

Of course this will eventually go the way of the novel I still haven't finished. Even if I do finish them, it's highly unlikely things will go any further. But at least for a small amount of time, the creativity trapped in the corner of my mind has found an outlet.
