The Winter Blahs

Well, January has set in, miserable, cold and gray. Along with the weather gloominess, so has the 'blahs' set in.

For the past few months, I have been dealing with an issue that had to be corrected from when I was an athlete. Yes, I know to look at me now it doesn't seem like it, but once upon a time I was fairly competitive. Not any more.

P has been amazing through all of this. She hasn't complained (and she should have at least a few times), she has been patient, kind and forgiving (I am not a good patient to say the least).

But being 'out of commission' has taken a toll on our social life. For almost 6 weeks, we really couldn't go anywhere for too long, as I would get really uncomfortable. Even sitting in a restaurant, the chairs grew uncomfortable pretty quick.

Now I am somewhat improved. We went to a NYE party, but, sitting was an issue. I could stand for a bit, then sit, then stand and so on. Got tiring after a while. We talked to quite a few folks that night, but really didn't make much if any of a connection with anyone.

Now we are in the middle of a cold winter - and it has been cold! SO, we aren't getting out and about as much as we like. Plus, since we were 'off the grid' for a time, we haven't really met up with anyone with similar interests.

So now we are trying to get back in the swing, so to speak. And we have hit the dreaded 'dry spell' right out of the gate. I say this not as a whine, but as fact. We know folks go through a dry spell now and then, just our has hit right in the doldrums!

So, we are looking to find some way to break the slump. We might head to another party this week, or just find something else fun to do.

What has worked for you when you have hit the dry spell? How did you break it?
