 I thought the wood you walk in had been obliterated by a Putin pre-emptive strike as you've not blogged about it for a while. I'm pleased it's still there.

Thanks! It IS a bit shy. We had a lot of snow in mid and late winter and it was quite cold. The first week of March was marked by temperatures around and below zero- unusually cold for march in this part of Michigan. But the last week has warmed up a lot. If we get rain that snow won't last long.

It was hard to get motivated to take pictures in late winter. As it starts to degrade the snow gets dirty. Everywhere we walk clumps of dog shit begin to show up along the path, and while I DID blog about dog shit, I did NOT photograph it! This is the tedious part of winter. There's a freshness to early and mid- winter, and a solitude that I like. It seems like we've been on hold. But now things are happening again! It was time to get back into the woods.

You are so right about that! I hope we have a cool summer. Michigan summers can be quite humid and brutally hot. I don't mind Arizona and New Mexico heat, but this muggy shit here at home kills people. If it gets too hot we'll hike at night- I ain't walking in ninety degrees and ninety per cent humidity!

Thanks- you can tell I've been away from there for a while- I took a hundred photos and I wanted to post then all! It was hard to choose.
We might very well have a couple of last blasts...we've had snowstorms in April.
