Looking for Work
Looking for Work Well started the looking for work process today. With more and more company's having applications online these I find it much easier to get lost in the mix. You use to be able to get an application fill it out and drop it off, then ask about and who to call regarding the job. Now your lucky if they even give you a call back. I find that I am waiting for the phone to ring and it being in regards to a job. Calling about jobs is just as hopeless. Getting some one who can actually help you is unreal assumption. Most of the time you get handed of to some one else or told that they will look into the request you have called about at some latter time and they will call back. The cycle just repeats over and over again. |

Unless you have an in demand skill in your area. I went through the same thing and the online applications are often filtered by a computer system that looks at some of the criteria and only forwards the "best" ones to the reviewer. If you can find a recruiter in your field, that can help so they can get you in front of the people who do the hiring. you can also look at LinkedIn. You can look for jobs and also people who work at those companies and see if you can get a referral from them. Since many companies pay fee to employees who bring in candidates, you might get some movement that way. Good luck.
