Thoughts On A Blogger’s Bash With the talk of a Blogger’s Bash going around I figured I would offer up some thoughts on the subject – the potential pros and potential cons as I see them. FWIW, I only know a couple basic things about it (where and when) at this point, and have no association with anyone involved with it. When I first heard about Blogger Bashes during my first year of blogging here (2014), it sounded like a fun thing and I could meet some interesting people. My list was substantial, it included males (for guy purposes only) and of course female bloggers. Since then quite a few of those people are no longer here for a variety of reasons – known and unknown. Also, as you many know, things have changed since 2014 and 2016. Some of those on my list back then I would not want to meet now  .The fallout from things that have been said on the blogs is still with us. We lost a number of good bloggers because people’s thoughts and beliefs were being judged, before and versus, being discussed. IMO these blogs are worse off for it. A recent example . . . when I mentioned on someone’s blog that I was thinking about writing a post about the potential pros and potential cons of a blogger bash it was marked as “I disagree” by a number people. I didn’t mention any pros or cons there – I didn’t even have much of what I’m writing here in my head yet. So, someone was judging something that didn’t exist at that point. With that in mind, here are the; who, what, where, when and whys of a blogger bash as I see them. Who: there are several who actually; I’m a “who”, who else is or isn’t going, and who is putting it on come to mind – more on that later . . . maybe. What: we know the what – it is a blogger gathering. Where and when seem to have been determined so first I will address *drum roll* . . . why. If a blogger’s bash were just to meet and chat with other bloggers (if Lala would let me get a word in edgewise  ) things would probably be quite simple. But as you may have heard we blog on a “sex site”  , and that throws a big . . . thick . . . hardwood log on the fire. So . . . there is sex . . . or is there?  I read a post here by a very attractive female blogger. She had attended a Blogger’s Bash and “did not get laid”. She seemed to have wanted to but didn’t. In what nightmarish universe does that even happen . . . really? WTF? We are blogging on a “sex site”, aren’t we?So, what is the point of a sex site blogger’s bash without sex? If the point is to get to know other bloggers without any sexual contact – we already do that via the blogs and by making other, non-physical (email, text, phone, cams, etc.), connections beyond the blogs. I posed this scenario to a female blogger and her answer was essentially – yeah, what is the point? If it isn’t obvious by now there are a number of female bloggers I would like to get nekked with if I had the opportunity. They are interesting, smart, nice and attractive. Of course, whether any of them want to get with me is a whole other question. But, it isn’t as simple as that, I would not be the only one seeking their attention at a gathering. If you think the 20ish to 1 male to female ratio on the site(s) is an obstacle, think about the odds with all those bodies in one real place at one time. Note to self: bring a wet suit . . . oh and a tie, in case it’s formal.  Additionally, there are some women I won’t get to play with because they are attached – I get that. There are also some who don’t do one night stands – I get that too. Given how far away I am from any bloggers a regular thing would be difficult to do. Those factors raise the male / female ratio even higher. I don’t mind competition but . . . strictly numbers wise at this point the likelihood of RRR “getting laid” does not look promising.  For the sake of discussion let’s go beyond the numbers and ole RedRock actually has charmed his way into the opportunity to philander with 1 lovely lady blogger. Well first, I’m not going to limit myself to talking with just 1 blogger. I will try to talk to as many as possible really. So, let’s say I charm my way into the possibly to philander with 4 (just for a number) lovely lady bloggers. Realistically it won’t be all at once; so there is a logistical situation to figure out. How many would I, could I, or should I, “do” in whatever amount of time is available? Will there be enough time for all of them? If not who do I turn down (there will be consequences ya know)? Who do I go with first? Who do I leave to last? Is some woman going to be unhappy if I don’t give her my attention in a timely manner? What the last lady blogger gonna think? Or worse, what might she write? We have all witnessed how some bloggers can get when they are unhappy.  Am I over thinking this . . . perhaps, but over thinking, in some instances, has helped me survive a variety of situations. OK you sex crazed that’s enough to ponder for now. What do y’all think about what has been presented so far? I might address the; who, where, and when of a Blogger Bash once we discuss your input on the why. Hi Red, nice to see you back. There hasn’t been any discussion regarding any seminar on anything like that, just a gathering as far as I know. I’ve seen the faces of most of the people I interact with regularly on the blogs. And, 1000 miles is a long way to go just to see some faces. The Bloggers Bash sounds a lot like the parties we have here, which we usually have five or six a year in this province. For those, I usually travel 60 miles or so, I haven't traveled more than that. They do have parties in nearby provinces which I do not attend mainly because I am not interested on traveling that far on my own and not really know anyone. At our parties I see a lot of the folks I chat with in our local chat room and those I have become friends with through the parties and other meet and greets. I think I agree with you, I don't think I would be interested in traveling 1000 miles to put faces to names. It would be a different story if I was going to be in the area around the same time. Kind of like killing two birds with one stone, so to speak.

I'm late to the party as usual. Or at least THIS party. lol I have been to several blogger bashes. There was no expectation of sex at any of them. Well, as misskissin stated, there was a party at one that apparently all attendees except me know would likely end up with some playing. I went. When I figured out the deal, I left that party. Honestly I was pretty annoyed, but then again, "it is a sex site" so really, what did I expect?! At all other bashes, and all other get togethers, even at that particular bash, sex wasn't really on the table. Unless you met someone and things really clicked. I had a really terrific time at all of them. Turns out the people I liked blogging with, I liked socializing with! Of course, most of those people are gone from here, although I keep in touch other ways. I'm sure it has been 5 years since I went to a blogger's bash. Heck, I didn't even know there was one last year! lol I guess my point is, the bash can be whatever you want it to be. Probably. If I attended one that was all about going from one orgy to the next, I would freak the fuck out, and not in a good way. And, in my experience, there are always LOTS more women than men. As my post said I would be fine with socializing with a number of the bloggers here. But traveling a long way just to chat doesn’t make much sense to me or my wallet. I already chat off site with a number of bloggers so I’ve got that covered. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

On the East Coast we do have parties quiet often. I have attended a few over the past couple of years and have always enjoyed putting faces to names. I do not attend these functions for the purpose of hooking up, however, that is just me. There are some who do. I have been away from the blogs for a while due to work schedules and I have missed them. I do hope to get back to writing again very soon because I do miss it. As for a Blogger Bash, I think more of a bunch of bloggers discussing ideas and options for blog post. More of a seminar I guess. There are some I would love to meet because I enjoy what they have to say in their blogs, as well there are some I have no interest in meeting. As in real life, I am not attracted to the minds of everyone, it's the same in blogland. There are some bloggers who I have read and are no longer here, I miss them. There are also a lot of bloggers I have not had the ability to read. I can only follow so many. Since some of my former blogging friends are no longer blogging I must check out some others to find interesting topics of conversation. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. Not sure why a bash, that's actually a good question. I always liked the idea of a blogger bash but honestly I travel so much and meet so many bloggers one on one that it seems pointless to travel to a bash where I don't even know who's going to be there![/] Correct me if I'm wrong, but bashes past were open about who was interested and who was going. The secrecy behind the "interested" list, like the bash last March in Mobile, is where I bail. I still haven't heard a reasonable explanation as to why nobody but the organizers know who's declared interest. I don't know much about the past Bashes but you're right that it should be info that is available to everyone. Like a list of those who say Yes, those who say No, and those undecided. I came by because I have been to a bloggers bash and am going to this one. Both were in San Diego. I missed the one put on by my friend in outside of New Orleans because of bad stuff happening in my life at the time, but I would have spent the money to meet if I could have. I loved meeting the bloggers that I met in 2014 and was hoping for an equally fun time at this one. I loved meeting one of the male bloggers and will cherish it, one of the lovliest men one could ever meet even if he had to get up at one point and go outside (to smoke a cigarette? to chill out?). I hope he gets a chance to read this comment as he really is the type of person that most people would love to meet and get a chance to see him in person. And I guess that is my point; getting to know someone through their writing is one way to get to know someone. To see what they select the viewer to see, we get to see that part of them that they choose to show in photos. There are people that I would love to meet simply because of their writing, or the parts of them that they have let me see. For those people that I have seen in person, I now have a person that I think of in a different and fonder way. I meet up with bloggers that pass through San Diego and there are usually one or two that come through town or nearby (Los Angeles, Escondido). I regularly go to writers meeting, conventions, and bloggers events. The reason I would want to meet up with people from here (and presumably not have sex) is I feel I got to know them a little bit through their writing and we have a common interest in writing about the same subject. So, I guess I am the “organizer girl” you are speaking of…. Yes I stopped by your post & didn’t comment yet because there weren’t many comments at that time. I am sorry to see that so many others are making comments about me and don’t even message me or come to me directly with questions or understand what I was trying to do with this event. I have been nothing but kind and considerate to others on these blogs. This is just something of an idea to see how many people are interested if they want to get together and come to San Diego and spring time where it’s a lot warmer than other places in the country. Maybe the title “ Blogger’s Bash” seems to put people off as they are all thinking that there’s going to be a shit ton of sex, orgies and other raunchy things happening at this event. That is totally what it’s not about. Is it time for people to get together if they choose to, meet each other, socialize and have a place to gather and see each other in a normal setting. If other people want to engage in anything else than what I mentioned above, by all means they are more than welcome to do it. I personally I’m not planning any sex parties, orgies or whatever. Everyone can do whatever they want and if that’s what they’re there for, so be it. We are all adults here and I think everyone’s opinion is awesome. . In fact one blogger complemented you. There are statements regarding some people you associate with which, considering things that have been said on the blogs, is a legitimate discussion point. Feel free to address those comments, here if you wish, with me or the person(s) who made them. come to me directly with questions or understand what I was trying to do with this event. Not everyone (i.e. standard members) can send or receive messages. It might be a good idea to post updates and/or create an open group to post info/updates and address people's questions. I would imagine if one person has questions, or concerns, others probably do too. It might make things simpler for you too. This is just something of an idea to see how many people are interested if they want to get together When I read the Deviant guy’s post it appeared to be a set thing. This makes it sound like the bash isn't definitively set. Are you just feeling out whether people want to attend at this point? Maybe the title “Blogger’s Bash” seems to put people off “Blogger’s Bash” is what the gatherings have been called in the past from what I’ve read. I don’t think the name carries any negative connotation. I don’t think anyone who responded was suggesting it would be an orgy and calling it a 'bash' does not infer orgies will occur. IMO the name of the gathering is fairly irrelevant. If it’s not your cup of tea, then you don’t have to attend. Good to know attendance is not mandatory. Hmmmm on one hand it seem like it would be an interesting experience to actually talk face to face with people that I have spoke with via blogging. I think for me personally it would be a little daunting if I thought it necessary to have sex with someone I hadn't ever met before plus, being one of those that don't 'do' one night stands would be limiting as well. On the other hand I have found sexual chemistry with men when writing/texting then when the actual meeting comes about there isn't any. Very sad when that happens. I am sure there are some that feel I was better in written form, lol. I think I am not quite as forward in real life that I am in my fantasy life here in blog land. Putting sex aside (yes, I am aware you don't like to put it aside but up front and center) what an exciting time it might prove to be. And, you are right when it comes to a woman feeling slighted and writing it out on blog land. That can sting for sure. No worries Kinks you can come whenever you want. You position makes on a bash sense considering you are attached and have a family. There definitely is a potential for expectations, drama and hard feelings. not travelling somewhere for the sole purpose of meeting them. Not harsh really – it’s not reasonable to ask someone, especially someone who is attached and has a family and job, to travel a long distance to meet. If you did come here I would insist on at least buying dinner and drinks for you – that’s the least I could do. I’m sure we could find something for Mr. K to do for a while. Och, I get why people would go to such effort and expense to meet someone they know online. This is after all a big part of peoples' lives. I'm not saying it's the wisest purchase ye'd ever make, but I do know that if I had the cash I would be on a plane tomorrow, or better still put the McDoe on a plane, to come over here. So aye, I understand why people would invest their time and money that way. I think I'd probably attend the bash too if there were enough going who I interact with here and if it was closer. But as I said, not as part of any group or clique, oh no! As I understand it, the sex aspect of the previous bashes featured quite highly, but it wasn't the primary purpose. Aye, I noticed Missy had disappeared, along with the other fellae, not sure what happened there. I expect the blog police directed the organiser to your post, they're all part of the same group I believe (well, I know for a fact), perhaps she didn't have anything to add though. Fundamentally the girl is a good un though, very well intended, and I hope the bash is a success for her. Yeah the blog police are connected to the organizer(s) from what I’ve experienced. So I am somewhat leery. Also, full disclosure, I had some interaction with the organizer which didn’t leave me with a good impression. McKilty lad, I don’t have any problem with a good party with friends now and then. But traveling hundreds of miles to get there plus hotel makes it a bit pricey for most bloggers. And really the group is semi-strangers. Then you throw in the sex aspect of it – it’s a unique opportunity/situation to say the least. It would, obviously, be great if it were a success. But, now, 1 or 2 of the others who were involved are off the site. The organizing girl stopped by my blog, presumably to read this post since she rarely comes here, but did not leave a response. I tried to get one going when I went out to B.C. in West Coast of Canada but to no avail. When was this? I would find it interesting to see everyone in a different light, put a face to the handle... I did attend a small blogger bash in London some years ago. There were six men and two women, there was no drama, no tantrums and no sex..but it was still fun. Sadly, I don't believe any of the bloggers I met are still here but I am in touch elsewhere. no tantrums - good no sex - but . . . but . . . but this is a sex site but it was still fun. - good When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. I've met two bloggers, both girls, and neither time was it for sex, I simply liked them both, and we had a really nice time. One of the girls I met a few times and I'm still in touch with her albeit intermittently. I've also witnessed some of the bashes from afar. There were some proper bunfights when yon eejit Neurotcweed was around, f'n hilarious. The fallout continued for years. The McDoe attended a mini-bash once, met the delightful Chuckie boy, the ghostly one, I'll leave him to tell you what he thought some time. And then there have been some big gatherings which went fairly well, back in the day when we had a crowd of Canadians here who didn't really participate in any of the cliques. There were also a few Brit-bashes which were well attended, mainly before my time as a blogger. The idea of a gathering however just doesn't appeal to me. There are too many cliques and groups hereabouts, and we both know where that leads. There are a fair few people here who I would love to meet, one in particular - the McDoe of course, but I would want to do it on a small scale, I would never again want to appear to be in any one camp, group or clique........nope! And having said all of that, I do hope the impending bash goes off well. The girl who seems to have organised it seems like a good un!  Good post McFrock!! It would, obviously, be great if it were a success. But, now, 1 or 2 of the others who were involved are off the site. Opinionated sure, scary nah, fight doubt it, disagreement probably. I would avoid anyone I have that much of a disagreement with. If there was a blogger bash even remotely near me I would be there with bells on! There are bloggers (both male and female) on this site that I would definitely want to see and feel naked, but I guess like any other face to face meeting for the first time, I wouldn't expect to get laid. Want to.. fuck yeah..... over and over but never expect it. I don't see a blogger bash of any magnitude ever happening in my area though... maybe some year I will just bite the bullet and crash the ones in the US I hear ya about the Want to.. fuck yeah When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. There are too many cliques and groups hereabouts, and we both know where that leads. There are a fair few people here who I would love to meet, one in particular - the McDoe of course, but I would want to do it on a small scale, I would never again want to appear to be in any one camp, group or clique........nope! And having said all of that, I do hope the impending bash goes off well. The girl who seems to have organised it seems like a good un! Good post McFrock!!
