Back Home
Back Home Well this was a fun find. Going through some old memory stuff last night, looking for a letter. I found part of a song. Reading through it, i was dumbfounded. This is the very first song I wrote! I was 17 at the time, and reading it was thinking, "Damn, I was a moody little bastard". Doesn't have the second verse, and for the life of me, I can't remember it. What was funny, I picked up a guitar, and within 5 minutes was playing it. Can't believe I remember the melody. Half the time I can't remember songs I wrote last year. I'm still trying to figure out what a 17 year old was thinking were the good old days. Back Home. We live on dreams while we're young, Try to turn ourselves into someone. But the things we do, Can't erase the things that we've done. So we leave our homes to try and find, A better world then we left behind. But we find that, Happiness is just a frame of mind. Chorus. But don't you try to find your way, Back Home. Back to all those good old days that have gone. Live your life one day at a time, Remembering nothing can be done. About all those good old days that have gone. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx |

Actually like this one a lot, after all the years. Gonna have to write a second verse and a bridge. It appears I've come full circle, well at least on songwriting. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

17 years old. On the brink of adulthood. Remembering the good old days of childhood. Summers that lasted forever. No worries about college or getting a job. Uncomplicated days ----- before you discovered girls! Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

Uncomplicated days ----- before you discovered girls! And yeah, lets go with that, hadn't discovered girls yet. Makes me sound at least somewhat better. It will be fun to finish...might take a bit though. Going to give it some thought and run down memory lane a few times. Intelligence wasn't the problem at that age..it was the lack of common sense and wisdom that makes me wonder how I survived. "I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" You have to feel like you are a member, to be a member. It does not mean young, old, or middle age; it is what you feel in your heart and soul. Going home is not possible as time has changed that home and you.

Don't even try to go home. Thanks for the post. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

I remember myself as being sorta deeper in thought than most of my buddies back then. But hell, this sounds moody as hell. LOL " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

They really are wonderful lyrics. Saying you were moody and musical sounds like an intriguing combination. Musicians sure were sexy to me. I remember having a crush on a guy who played in a really good college band my freshman year. He was a senior at my college. His band played at a lot of parties on campus. He was pre med and had been accepted to Med School. He was also into musical theatre and did something with a school production of Jesus Christ Superstar. So me being a geek sang "I Don't Know How To Love Him." at a dormitory talent show and he came to support me and my friend. I remember going to his off campus apartment with my friend after a party. He lived across the street from the Fraternity we were little sisters at. So we were there chatting and my friend was much more worldly than me. I was so naive to put it mildly. So I saw a package in his garbage and remarked what is Forex. Seriously I had no clue. To which my friend and this guy whose name was Adam started laughing. I will always remember that...Sorry for the long story. Thank you for reminding me of that time though...it still makes me laugh. Okay, I just Googled Forex and they are no longer in business. Oh well ... Independently Romantic Sounds Better Than Lonely

Thank you, I need to get my mind settled down before I think of where I want to tie it back together. Its funny on the creepy thing, I had a couple of my little sisters friends that were always flirting with me. Talked to one years later, who told me she was heart broken that I never would go out with her in high school. I was like..uh. you were only 14. Would have been fun to meet you back then, I'm sure. Not sure if you would have liked me though. I was respectful, but damn I was a wild child. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx
