Maybe a story, maybe not.

I’ve never blogged before, but I’ll give it a try. A short story might be the best way to start since I like to write. Maybe something exciting and edgy that the community can help with? Nothing like an unfinished story to get the creative juices flowing.
(Pardon the lack of indentations. Turns out, this interface removes them)

For now I’ll it…
The Virtual Adventures of Jack and Jill..

Part 1
THE COMPOUND

Alys was a creature of the night; always hunting. She could move from shadow to shadow like a ghost, just as her master had taught her, and on this night she would need to do it with perfection. Her prey was a powerful man, and he would be well guarded. Any slip-up could result in her death, or worse, her capture. She eyed the compound from her perch in the surrounding tree cover. Two sets of armed guards patrolled the exterior walls with barred gates at each end. She could probably scale the outer wall, she thought, but she was certain Kelvin would not be able to follow. Where was he?
“Night Wolf, you copy?” She whispered, tapping her coms.
Silence.
She continued her scan of the compound. Two towers with lights and snipers covering a central two-story building. She lowered her goggles and switched to thermal scan. Two figures stationed at the door, and at least three on the second floor. More than likely her prey was one of them. She panned the exterior of the building. There was a large of heat emanating from a nearby shed. That was probably the generator, she thought. A plan started to form in her mind. If she could knock that , it could work to her advantage. Maybe she didn’t need Jack as a backup? Where the fuck was he?
“Night Wolf you copy?” she whispered, then frowned.
“Night Wolf, please respond.”
That’s when she heard the suppressor, twice in short order. It was coming from in front of her, closer to the compound. Just as she lifted her goggles she saw the two guards patrolling the south side drop to the ground.
“Good evening, sweetheart!” Kelvin cackled, “Did you miss ?”
She smirked and shook her head, simultaneously lowering the volume of her ear piece.
“You’re late,” she scolded, “And stop fucking around, you know my sign, use it.”
“Yes mistress… I mean roger that Dark Angel.” He replied. “What’s the plan?”
She smiled but wasn’t done complaining. “The plan? Well, now that you have taken two guards we don’t have very long to come up with one do we?”
“Now who’s fucking around D A?” Kelvin quipped. “I know you better than that. You already have a plan, and those two guards were not going to be back in that spot for another 20 minutes. I figure we have maybe minutes or more before they’re missed.”
She did have a general plan, she just didn’t have the time to refine it. “We need to switch positions,” she explained. “I’m in a tree about 30 meters to your five o’clock.”
“Why don’t you come to me?” He asked. “Aren’t we going in?”
“I’m going in, you are providing over-watch.” She replied quietly. “I don’t think you can make it over the wall, but I can. It’s a suicide mission storming either gate. This is going to require more finesse.“
“Bad idea Angel. This is a bad dude!” He argued. “You could end up like Rayna.”
Alys nodded. Rayna was a scout, a.k.a. White Owl. She was sent in to gather intelligence the day before, but failed to report back. If she was still alive, there was a good chance she was locked up somewhere in that compound. Alys knew that Rayna’s rescue was a secondary objective, but she wasn’t about to leave her behind.
“We don’t know what happened to Rayna.” Alys responded as she quietly slipped down from the tree. “If she is in there, I’ll get her out.”
“Ninja to the rescue!” Kelvin laughed unconvincingly. “, there’s something you should know about this pla—“ His voice suddenly cut out.
“Night Wolf? Do you copy?”
“Night Wo—“ She started but was startled when a voice suddenly erupted behind her.

“Hey Jill, I‘m getting a phone , I’ll be right back.”
“Come on Jack!” Jill scolded aloud, as she reached up to stabilize her Virtual Reality headset. “We can’t pause this game, its multiplayer! And we’re on the cloc—“
“I’m sorry, its work, and I have to take it.” He apologized as his voice in real life trailed off.
Jill frowned as she watched her character creep closer to the compound walls. “Fine!” She said her breath. “I can do this myself for now.”
