"Men are like pumpkins. It seems like all the good ones are either taken or they've had everything scraped out of their heads with a spoon."

Friday July 8 2011...I arrived home from taking a friend out to lunch for her birthday. My brother had called and left a message ~ "Mom is doing worse, you better come home". I called him back, and he said he would drive down to pick me up.
When we walked into Mom's room at the nursing home that night, Dad, Mom's brother and his wife were there. I walked over to Mom and took her hand, "Mom, it's me".
For the next couple of hours we took turns sitting by her side, holding her hand. Her breathing was labored and our hearts broke at how she was suffering.
When we were leaving, my brother said he would stay the night with her.
Saturday July 9 2011...My brother arrived at my Dad's around 8 a.m. He hadn't slept much through the night. Mom was about the same he told us. Dad and I went to the nursing home around 11:30 a.m. Mom's breathing was worse. We talked to her, although she couldn't reply, Dad on one side and me on the other. The nurses came in periodically to move her from one side to the other, give her a shot of morphine, in an attempt to make her more comfortable.
When I couldn't stand watching her suffer anymore, I leaned down and said, "Mom, if you have to go, it's okay. We don't want you to be in any more pain. We love you, and we will miss you, and we will be okay. Don't be afraid. Go and be with Grammy and Grampy".
Later that day, I asked the nurse to send in someone from the church to pray for my Mom, which they did within the hour. I gave the lady who came, some details about my Mom and she prayed with us. I'm not sure if it was any help to my Dad but I know for myself it helped.
The staff and nurses at the nursing home were wonderful. One lady kept asking my Dad and me if we wanted a coffee or tea, and we kept refusing, not wanting to be a bother to them.
Around 5 a lady rolled in a cart with sandwiches, and a pot of tea. That was so nice of them and an egg salad sandwich never tasted so good. The tea hit the spot to be sure. Around 8 that evening my brother sent me a text saying he was on his way to relieve us.
He came in 15 minutes later and we talked for a while. Around 9 my Dad and I left, saying our good byes to Mom. After we left, the nurses came in to turn Mom on her other side and give her the morphine shot. In the meantime my brother went to get the nurses some tea and coffee at Tim's. When he got back, the nurse met him at the door and said, "Your mother is gone."
My brother called Dad's place and I answered the phone.
"She's gone," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, "put Dad on the phone."
I went into the kitchen and told Dad to come to the phone.
Although we were very sad to lose her, a sense of relief washed over us, knowing she wasn't suffering anymore.
Mom, I love you.

Mom has been moved back to the nursing home, which makes it easier for my Dad to visit her. Apparently they have done all they can for her at the hospital.
A wonderful friend of mine drove all the way up from Halifax to take me to see her yesterday. He sat with me for several hours, watching her sleep. He insisted he didn't mind that at all.
Anyway, she sleeps a lot, I mean most of the day. She claims she's in no pain when asked. Once in a while she will wake to ask for a sip of ginger ale. She doesn't eat.
I'm not sure what is going to happen, but whatever it is, I hope it's what she wants.
I love you Mom

Well these past two days have been the worst Ive ever had. My Mom was taken to the hospital in Fredericton on Wednesday after having a heart attack. Now Mom's kidneys are failing. They have her on a medication to make her pee and she isn't doing that at all. She's been drinking plenty of fluids, tomato soup, V8 juice, other soups, jello, water, and juice and pop, but still no peeing. They were giving her a blood transfusion today, which should have brought back some of her colour but when I left today she was an absolute grey colour. I noticed her upper arms and thighs were a little swollen yesterday, then today they were swollen a whole lot more.
I don't think she will make it out of this one, please say a prayer for my Mom.

Since the day was so bright and sunny (big storm coming tonight) I decided to get out of my tiny apartment and head over to Wally world. I picked up a few things and then found myself in the ladies clothing section..Jeans to be exact.
To make a long story short, I ended up buying a pair...get this...in a SIZE 14! I don't like trying them on there so I brought them home, just tried them on and THEY FIT!
I'm giving myself a pat on the back. For those who don't know, I've lost 212 pounds so far. I've gone from a size 52 pant to a size 14 Jeans.
Thanks for listening LOL

Yesterday when I got home from work, I decided to take my garbage and compost outside while I was still dressed for our cold weather. While I was tying up my garbage bag, I had the sudden urge to pee. Knowing I would never make it outside and back without peeing my pants, I hurried into the bathroom.
Since I live alone, I never close my bathroom door. Why bother? lol As I was sitting there peeing, I glanced to my left and there was my apartment door standing wide open!
OH MY GOD! I had forgotten to close it when I came in. I hurried to finish peeing before anyone walked by my opened door, or the guy who lives across the hall from me, came out of his apartment!
I've been laughing at myself ever since!
Ginger, the peeing flasher!
