Site is down but has Anyone Else Noticed...

The site probably lost a server or has had other technical troubles today. Pages load slowly, don't load at all, or partially load.

How can it be that a page partially loads, with little content, but the ads load completely with active links?

Does It Live Up to the Reputation?

I've been cruising the Internet since the days of dial-up and CompuServe, well before America On Line, when it was UUnet and all text based. I've watched the growth of sites like this one and used to hang out at Literotica. I remember belonging to TSmeet many years ago and being terribly disappointed with it. The ratio of men to women was probably 50:1 and the chances of a desirable woman writing back to me? Remember the snowball in Hell? The snowball has better odds. I decided TSmeet was too expensive for the return on investment and dumped it when more than half of the women there were professionals, trolling for their next john.

I tried several other sites and had some success but couldn't find who I was looking for, at least, within an hour's drive or so. I got sucked into a couple of the con sites (and there are plenty) where all the women's profiles are phony, with an endless stream of two-line messages. They all say the same thing, probably written by a fat, balding old man named Alexi in Dumfukestan. All they want is your credit card number and/or to sell you memberships to porn sites.

Then I discovered this offspring of TSmeet and after cruising here for a few days, decided to invest a few bucks and see what I could see.

I'm like a little in a candy store, as many of us probably are. I've had some success chatting with some very interesting people, but for some reason, my ideal playmate remains elusive. I've found plenty of great candidates but they all live four states over.

All this adventure reminds me of the old joke about the guy who spent his time searching for the perfect woman. He finally found her, but she would have nothing to do with him. After all, she was searching for the perfect man.

Dear Seattle Fans,

Those of us who follow the Green Bay Packers understand what it feels like to blow a 4th quarter lead. We understand what it feels like to lose the game on a dumb play at the last second.

We have little sympathy for you.

Empathy? Yes.

Sympathy? No.

Snow is like sex.

You never know when you're going to get it.

You never know how many inches you're going to get.

You never know how deep it will go.

You never know how long it will last.

Flakes are each unique but together, they're all alike.

Common Misuse of Words and Stuff that Drive Me Nuts

First of all, don't accuse me of being a grammar nazi, although I've gotten that one a few times in the past. I certainly don't claim to be perfect, either, Lord knows, I make enough misnakes and typos in my work. I'm prone to transposed lettres, myself.

All this coming from a guy who's user name is misspelled. I love the irony, but if you see the essay about my user name down the page, you'll understand.

English is a terribly difficult language to learn and tough enough for native speakers to use correctly, but at the same time, it is a robust language with some beautiful phrases and very descriptive words. Some words are just fun to say, like "ointment" and "Albuquerque."

It gets very confusing when one tries to abide by the Rules of English because there are so many exceptions. Like "I before E except after C. (And when it is the sound of A.) So that damned rule even has two exceptions in it!

How many people can't figure out the difference between to, two and too? Who and Whom still confuses me all the time.

But this one is serious. Men have a small organ that is a major component of their sex organs. It's called a prostate gland and the doctor checks it in a most degrading way, but it has to be checked annually.

Why? If you are a man and you live in the United States, you have a 1 is 7 chance of getting cancer in your prostate gland.

It's called prostate cancer.

If you are lying in a prone position, you are said to be prostrate.

Now, pay attention here. You cannot get cancer from laying down. The is no such thing as prostrate cancer!

The next time you go for a physical, especially if you're over 40, ask the doc if he/she wants you to be prostrate for your prostate. The doc will probably look at you like you have carrots coming out of your ass, just before he/she sticks her finger up there.

It'll be okay, trust me.

Incidentally, and this is serious, the chances of having prostate cancer if you're under 40 is about 1 in 10,000 but over 40 your chances zoom up to 1 in 38, over 60 it's 1 in 14. It's the most common non-skin cancer in the United States. Maybe the NFL should do orange or something for prostate awareness!
