I'm ridiculously proud of what I've accomplished at the ripe old age of 30. I work too hard, don't spend enough time with friends and family, give myself to my career and it financially, rewards me with all sorts of shit. My goal at the end is to eventually find some balance... but that's a blog post for another day.

Today, I ponder the concept of fucking/dating people who are in the same financial boat as you are.

A few years ago, I went out on a couple dates with this guy. The first date went really well and we set up the second one. After the second one, he walked me back to my car and his jaw dropped. "You drive THAT????" Uh ya.... It was almost as though I could see his balls getting inverted into his body. He clenched, shook his head, pointed and asked the same question again. After I explained that yes, I am single, yes, I am financially doing well, he kissed me and left. After that, he called and explained that he has a need to be the main bread winner in a relationship.

Whatevs. No skin off my back. But that situation totally changed the way I looked at dating. Now, im wondering if people use the same qualifying to determine who they fuck next.

For me, you must be financially stable. You don't need to be driving a mother fukin Bugatti (and if you don't know what that is, we cant be friends anymore), but you need to be driving something comparable to what I drive. You need to be living on your own and capable of hosting a woman in your home.

Do you care where people stand financially if you are fucking? Or just if you are dating? Does it matter at all? Or am I the only weirdo?
